Am I the only one who noticed that Yahoo! Political Dashboard seemed to be posting early election results for part of the day today?  It's totally gone now, and it's back to their "average poll" watching feature.

I wish I had gotten a screenshot, but I didn't think of it at the time...

This guy blogged about it too.  But I can't find any other explanations...

I've loved Political Dashboard during this election, and the sneak peek I got to see earlier showed me that it will likely be the method I use to track the returns (while following along on TV).

I'm just very curious what they were posting early today (last night?), why it was there, and what it was based on...

If you have more info, please share or provide linkage.  Thanks.

I didn't see it, but I know occasionally sites like Yahoo run test code in production just to verify the system is working correctly. I don't think any states have released any election information, and generally states do not release election results until after polls close in their states.

I'm hoping that the networks respect an informal agreement made a few years ago not to show results until the polls close in the West, but I suspect that agreement will be violated, in large part because to compete against Drudge Report and other Internet sites.

Yahoo early results
I saw the same thing late Saturday night and I thought I was dreaming. But as soon as I saw it I could not get it back. I did get a glimpse of some of the returns and how it looked favorable for McCain. I have not been able though to get a response on that map.
