In the news - Guatemala teachers...

From airsecurity.com

Guatemala: Teachers on strike across Guatemala decided to withdraw from the country's airports, seaports and oil pumping stations late on 27 February 2003, just prior to a court order allowing police officers to evict the protesters. The striking teachers ended their occupation of Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport after occupying a terminal for approximately 48 hours. Teachers also ended their occupation of the airport at Santa Elena, located in northern Petén department. Teachers, however, will continue with public protests as well as their ongoing work stoppage. Representatives of the teachers stated that striking teachers will continue negotiations with the government over demands for salary increases. According to reports, thousands of teachers are marching from the northwestern city of Huehetenango toward Guatemala City and are expected to arrive on 28 February 2003.

Also, I had my stitches taken out today - from my surgery last week.
I didn't think she was going to do it already, but she said that I am healing beautifully, and she doesn't want the stitches in there to screw anything up, or for me to have a reaction to them.

Note: This was the first time I've ever had stitches (that I remember, other than oral surgery)... And this was definately the first time I've had stitches removed. One word = PAINFUL.
