And the cat (cone and all) was very interested in what I was doing at the oven.
I opened the oven door, and reached in to take out the baking sheet. And as I'm going to place this oh-so-hot sheet of metal onto the top of the stove, out of the corner of my eye I notice the cat is coming closer and closer to the oven... And I figure, heck, it's pretty hot. She'll get close, and feel the warmth and back off.
Not so much.
She put her front paws onto the open oven door, like she was prepared to jump right onto it to check out what was in that big metal box.
But the moment her little paws touched the oven door, she made a pitiful (and surprizing loud) RAWR noise. And ran a safe distance away and watched me deal with the chicken.
Fortunately, I don't think she was really hurt, but more surprised. She seems fine now, and isn't limping or anything.
Still bumping into stuff because of the cone, but that's another story for another day.
