Regarding Raymond T. McKay's indignant Commentary piece "Reject
Lynch's stand on gay marriage" and his statements about "activist
Mr. McKay, did you not get the memo? The country, at least the sane
part of it, is no longer listening to buzz words like "activist
judges." Most people have cooled off a bit about gays' receiving
equal protection under the law, and marriage equality. Apparently you
haven't. I have a few thoughts for you:
Unless gays are getting married in your living room while you're
trying to watch Fox News, how is it interfering with your marriage?
Or maybe you believe that you are the Decider-In-Chief regarding
which love is better than the other, or which love is sinful. If love
can be sinful, then I suppose that hatred, discrimination and
judgment can be virtuous. Lately it seems that, with Republicans,
down is up, and vice versa.
What I know for certain is that I would step in front of a bus for my
partner of 13 years. I don't much care that you think your love for
your wife and family is somehow superior to my love for him. I guess
that's just the point. I don't care to get involved in your life and
tell you who you can love and who you can marry.
Why do you feel the need to get involved in mine?
